Source: Gazette, The Cedar Rapids Gazette - October 25, 2006 Michael Dean "Mike" Alexander Sr., 52, of Center Point, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Jonna Jensen, with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Suzanne; daughter, Nicole Alexander, a student at Allen School of Nursing in Waterloo; son, Michael Alexander Jr., a student at Iowa State University in Ames; parents, Ralph and Joyce Alexander of Galesburg; sister, Diane Anderson of Galesburg; brother, Duane Alexander of Nevada; mother-in-law, Marguerite Beliveau of Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Claudette (Tom) O'Donnell of Florida, Francine (Alan) Arnold of Florida and Lucie Beliveau of Massachusetts; brother-in- law, Simon (Doreen) Beliveau of Massachusetts; and his dog, Zach. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Reine Flahive. Mike was born March 10, 1954, the son of Ralph and Joyce (Hamilton) Alexander, in Galesburg, Ill. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972. On March 14, 1975, he married Suzanne J. Beliveau in Springfield, Mass. Mike served with the U.S. Air Force from 1972-1977 during the Vietnam War. He then graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., in 1983. Mike worked at Rockwell Collins as a principal software engineer for 17 years. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club at Rockwell, IEEE, and had volunteered for Habitat For Humanity for several years. Mike enjoyed reading, golfing and fishing. He was a loving husband, father and son, and will be dearly missed. Military honors will be provided by Dye-Benion American Legion Post 297 of Center Point. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation or the American Cancer Society in Mike's memory.
